Fadogia Agrestis is touted as a weight loss supplement that is loaded with all sorts of health benefits. In fact, the company website boasts about its proprietary blend of herbs, vitamins and antioxidants. But can Fadogia Agrestis really help you lose weight? Or is it just another product being hawked by companies looking to make a quick buck?
Fadogia Agrestis contains ingredients such as stevia and goji, which are native to Russia. It’s also been linked to increasing libido and testosterone levels. Proponents point out that males in Russia who consume stevia have increased libido and testosterone levels; men in China who use goji berry have similar results. Overall, however, no one really knows whether Fadogia Agrestis really helps with anyone’s medical condition, except for increasing libido and testosterone.
According to reviews on the Fadogia website, the company’s proprietary blend of aphrodisiacs has a dual effect: men experience increased energy and desire for lovemaking while women experience a boost in libido and desire for intercourse. In laboratory tests, the combination of aphrodisiacs was found to cause significant increases in test subjects’ semen quality. This effect was most noticeable during the first three months of use. The increase in semen quality was consistent across all subjects, but was found to be most pronounced in men who were using the product in conjunction with a prescription drug. The result was an increased libido and testosterone levels which, according to some sources, make Fadogia Agrestis a potent aphrodisiac.
However, a potential problem with this particular brand of aphrodisiac is that it does not work well as a male enhancement supplement. Users of the fadogia agrestis formula have reported little to no change in their erections or ability to get and stay erect. Some users report an increase in sexual desire and performance but these effects generally wear off within a day or so. There is little discussion of whether these issues are due to the combination of the aphrodisiacs or a true inability of the supplement to work as advertised.
A separate, smaller study published in the journal Sexual Medicine reported that the fadogia agrestis aphrodisiac had minimal effects on libido and testosterone levels. The study published by academics at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden compared the effects of the herbal aphrodisiac to those of a male enhancement pill. The subjects who participated in the study published in the same journal had no significant increase in libido or testosterone levels when taking the fadogia agrestis but had a significant increase when exposed to the sexual stimulants l-carnitine and Ginkgo biloba. The authors of the study recommended that consumers who want to improve their sex lives take the natural alternative without involving prescription drugs.
There have been conflicting studies on whether or not men who use a Fadogia Agrestis sexual enhancer supplement experience increased sex drive and harder erections or not. A large scale trial published in 2021 in the Journal of Integrative Medicine reported that users of a Fadogia Agrestis sexual enhancement supplement had greater libido than nonusers. This trial included a placebo as well as three other dietary supplements. One of the other supplements was found to have no effect on testosterone levels or libido.
Based on the information above it would seem that the use of a fadogia agrestis sexual enhancement supplement could be beneficial to men with erectile dysfunction who are struggling with low libido. Of the six references given above only one was negative and the other three were neutral. However, there is a large amount of anecdotal evidence which strongly suggests that the use of this herb may be beneficial. An article published on the popular health and wellness website, “The Simple Man’s Guide to Health and Fitness” states that the herb can help stimulate erectile function by increasing energy levels and enhancing circulation to the penis. Another user of the herb reported that his erection problems were solved after taking the herb in dosage during a rest period.
While the use of a fadogia agrestis sexual enhancement supplement has been known to increase libido and sex drive for a short period of time, this does not mean that the supplement is safe for long term use. Long term use of these products will undoubtedly result in a combination of poor health, fatigue, and loss of libido. It is therefore important that anyone using these supplements to treat sexual dysfunctions check with their health care provider about potential risks and how to avoid these risks.
